This Month’s Snapshot: September 2026 Issue (August 2026 Data)
Confidence is returning to permanent hiring across the Midlands. Permanent placements rose for a second month running in August (the strongest increase since late 2022) while contract and temp billings cooled slightly, bucking the trend seen elsewhere in England.
Permanent candidates are more available than they have been in months due to redundancies, but that window may not stay open forever, and pay growth is telling two very different stories depending on whether you’re hiring permanent or temporary staff.
